MTSU Athletic Training Workshop
What: This event is for any high school student that is interested in becoming an athletic trainer. These prospective students will be able to envision the unique and challenging, but exciting lifestyle of an athletic training student. They will learn the necessary skills to develop into young professionals. They will be presented information on rehabilitation techniques, injury evaluations, taping skills, and current advances in the sport medicine arena.

The theme for the 2020 CSMM is hands on skills for clinical pratice. Topics covered will include manual therapy, wound closure, trauma assessment and triage, assessment and treatment of dysfunctional breathing, in additiona to concussion treatment, differentials, and effects of persisten neuroinflammation.
Learning Objectives
Following this event, attendees will be able to:
Describe evidence for and against prescribed physical and cognitive rest following concussion.
Evaluate breathing patterns to determine quality of diaphragmatic function using the Hi-Lo Assessment and the Modified Manual Assessment of Respiratory Motion.
Demonstrate how to prepare, administer and monitor the use of tourniquets, pressure dresings, wound packing, and simple chest seals in the prehospital setting using the current evidence.
Describe how measures of diagnostic accuracy such as, sensiivity, specificity, reliability, and likelihood ratios are determined using clinical data, and how each athletic trainer could contribute to this body of evidence.

SEATA 2020 AT Education Summit (2/6-2/8)
The Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA) will be hosting an education summit for athletic training professionals (faculty members, clinical preceptors, etc.) and students (both undergraduate and graduate). The 2020 Athletic Training Education Summit will convene on Thursday, February 6th at the Crown Plaza Ravina hotel in Atlanta, GA.
This is SEATA's 35th annual student symposium for both undergraduate and graduate athletic training students. Additionally, this year SEATA invites professional members who share their interest in athletic training education to join us for our 8th Biennial AT Educators' Confernece.

8th Biennial Athletic Training Educators' Conference (ATEC)
Registion for the 8th Biennial Athletic Training Educators' Conference is now open. This conference is designed for Athletic Training Education Program educators and preceptors. Programming is designed to assist faculty and staff with the knowledge and skills to prepare for implementation of the CAATE 2020 Professional Program Standards. This program is scheduled to provide up to 3 hours of BOC approved Category A hours of Continuing Education.
