The induction into the Hall of Fame is an honor conferred upon members who have distinguished themselves in the profession. Each of these people have been members who have worked in the state of Tennessee a minimum of fifteen years and have demonstrated throughout their life’s work the highest level of devotion, professionalism, and personal sacrifice to those they have served and cared for. This is the highest award bestowed on an athletic trainer by the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society.

Hall of Fame: The Tennessee Athletic Trainers (TATS) Hall of Fame is designed to recognize and honor TATS members who performed extraordinary service and brought honor to the profession of athletic training in Tennessee. Service and contributions to TATS are the sole criteria for induction into the TATS Hall of Fame.

Minimum eligibility requirements include 15 years as a certified member working or living in Tennessee and at least 20 years of service in the profession.

​The nomination period for the TATS Hall of Fame will close on October 1st of the current year.

Application Eligibility Requirements:

· Minimum of 15 years as a certified member working or living in Tennessee.

​· Minimum at least 20 years of service in the profession.

· Nominated by a certified member in TATS.

· All nomination forms must be completed and returned to the TATS Hall of Fame Committee Chair by October 1 prior to the induction year.

· A Certified Athletic Trainer being nominated cannot solicit or influence the selection process.

· A nominee is eligible for re-nomination if the previous nomination was unsuccessful. All nominations will be kept on file by the Chair for three years. If after three years, a candidate is not elected into the TATS Hall of Fame, the candidate must be re-nominated and a new application must be received by the Chair.

TATS Hall of Fame: Criteria for Consideration of Induction

State Service:

· TATS Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting Attendance

· TATS Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting Conference Chair/Coordinator

· TATS Clinical Symposium & Members Meeting Speaker

· TATS Standing Committee Membership or Chair

​· TATS Ad Hoc Committee or Task Force Chair/Co-chair

• TATS Award Recipient​

• TATS Annual Executive Board Meetings Attendance as State elected officer /representative or TATS Parliamentarian in conjunction with TATS Annual Meeting

· TATS Elected Officer or Representative (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer or Regional Representative)

​· Legislative or governmental advocacy

· TSSAA involvement or other activity to improve the health of student athletes

· Promotion of athletic training to coaches groups, teacher organizations, civic clubs, booster organizations , PTA. medical associations, career day

· Recognition at place of employment

· Other service to TATS

TATS Hall of Fame Subcommittee

The TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee was formed to recognize and honor TATS members who performed extraordinary service and brought honor to the profession of athletic training in Tennessee.

Committee structure, duties, & function:

The subcommittee will consist of a chairperson appointed by the TATS President and approved by the TATS Executive Board.

Committee members are approved annually by the TATS Executive Board and selected by the TATS President and Hall of Fame sub-committee Chair. The importance of diversity across the scope of practice by Certified Athletic Trainers will be recognized.

Subcommittee members will evaluate nominations; help with awards presentation and collection of such information as needed by the subcommittee to make their decision.

The subcommittee will continue to review the nomination, selection and awards process and make recommendations to the TATS Executive Board.

Committee meetings, as needed will be conducted at the Annual TATS Meeting, through telephone calls, telephone conference calls, emails, letters or faxes.

NOMINATION, SELECTION, AND INDUCTION PROCEDURE:

The nomination process is designed to be fair and objective to recognize those members who have performed extraordinary service and brought honor to the profession of athletic training in Tennessee.

Nominations may be made by any certified member of TATS in good standing. Nomination and application forms can be downloaded from the TATS website.

Nominating members and nominees are encouraged to contact the TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair with any questions regarding the process or forms.

Nominating members are encouraged to assist the nominee in the application completion and submission process as soon as the nominating member initiates the nomination.

Nomination and application forms are to be sent by email (preferred) or mail to the TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair by October 1st prior to the induction year.

Completed application, nomination and evaluation forms will be sent to at least two TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee members no later than November 1st.

Hall of Fame Committee Evaluation Forms must be returned to the TATS Hall of Fame Committee Chair by November 15th prior to the induction year

The TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair will inform the TATS President of the successful nominees who will contact the recipient and inform them of their selection.

All newly approved TATS Hall of Fame inductees will be notified by the President or his/her designee, and asked to respond of their acceptance and attendance at the Annual TATS Meeting by December 1st prior to the induction year. If the new "Hall of Fame" member is unable to attend the Annual TATS Meeting, he/she will need to forward the name of the person they wish to accept their award to the Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair.

The President or his/her designee will solicit and develop with the inductee a biographical statement and picture for inclusion in the Hall of Fame Awards Program and the TATS website.

The TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair will, by email, inform the other TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee members of the results of selection.

The TATS Hall of Fame subcommittee Chair will then arrange for rings and plaques/awards.

Award presentation will take place during the Annual TATS Meeting. If possible, a close personal friend of the recipient may be asked to introduce the inductee or make the actual presentation
